Avenue A Books is a new imprint of children's graphic novels for ages 5-14. My responsibilities include actively acquiring children's book writers and illustrators on a work-for-hire basis for graphic novels and picture books, negotiating contracts, guiding authors and illustrators on story development from concept to publication, working with graphic designers and production team on book design, and working with marketing to package and position books. Our first set of books is scheduled for publication in Spring 2019.

The nature of my work included research, writing, editing, and copyediting of a variety of print and online products, including retail books and workshop, promotional, and other organization materials. When serving as editor on a project, I worked with writers on content development, gave editorial feedback, and established and maintained schedules and deadlines.

Freelance work included research, travel, and writing articles on a variety of topics in the arts industries and special education market (including expert interviews and event/book/conference reviews). Publishing credits include A&U Magazine, Demand Studios, Psychology Today, Southwoods Journal, and guest posts on various creative writing and special education blogs/journals.

Children and teen tutoring focuses on expanding creativity, incorporating the arts into writing, and strengthening composition and creative writing skills based on assessment of individual skills.
